Street Families Rehabilitation Trust Fund Hosts Capacity Building Workshop
The Street Families Rehabilitation Trust Fund (SFRTF) supports institutions implementing its core programmes, which focus on the prevention, rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration, and resocialization of street families.
As part of these efforts, the Trust Fund organized a five-day capacity building workshop in Naivasha aimed at enhancing the management and operational efficiency of institutions working with street-connected individuals. The workshop was officially opened by the Fund’s Board Chairperson, Hon. Mary Wambui.
The initiative brought together key duty bearers from various organizations to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively run rehabilitation programmes and deliver improved services to vulnerable communities.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Hon. Wambui highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional frameworks to provide sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by street families. “This workshop reflects the Fund’s ongoing commitment to empowering institutions with practical tools and strategies to better support street-connected individuals,” she said.
The workshop follows the recent allocation of Ksh 50 million by the Government, disbursed through the Trust Fund, to support institutions involved in the rehabilitation and reintegration of street families. This funding is part of the broader national strategy to address the needs of street-connected populations.
As part of the workshop, participating institutions will sign Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to formalize their collaboration and ensure coordinated, holistic approaches to addressing the issue of street families.
SFRTF remains at the forefront of driving national responses and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships to develop long-term, sustainable solutions for street-connected families.
